Paris Olympic shooting silver medalist Cho Young-jae reports for duty

Youngjae Cho, who served in the Armed Forces Athletic Corps, finished his military service by reporting his discharge on the 19th.

Cho Young-jae won a silver medal in the Olympic shooting 25m rapid-fire pistol event held at the Chateauroux Shooting Center in France on the 5th of last month, meeting the qualifications for 'early discharge'.

However, Cho Young-jae became a hot topic when he said in an interview right after receiving the medal, "I have a little over a month left until my discharge. I want to finish it by spending time with my fellow soldiers in the unit."

Cho Young-jae became Korea's first Olympic medalist in rapid-fire pistol shooting and was responsible for the Korean shooting team's last medal at the Paris Olympics.

South Korea's shooting team, whose best achievement was five medals (three gold and two silver) at the 2012 London Olympics, finished the Paris Olympics with three gold and three silver medals thanks to 한국을 Cho Young-jae's medal.

Cho Young-jae, who played for the Gyeonggi Provincial Office before enlistment, is scheduled to compete as a member of the Jeollanam-do representative team, his hometown, in the National Sports Festival to be held in Gyeongnam next month after his discharge.

After that, he plans to return to his original team, Gyeonggi Provincial Office, early next year and continue his career as a player.
